12th
Record Store Day
Hey hey -
Just saw that my last post was, uh, a while ago. But with good reason: I suddenly moved to New York. More on that later, maybe. Packing and moving is a total pain. Lost a 12-string in the move, kind of a bummer. Was a gift from an old girlfriend, which was looked after by my good friend Steve B. when I lived in Australia.
Anyhoo, you may have been shunted over here by The Vinyl District blog . I’ve taken over for a week, which means, because I really hate transcribing things, that you’ll be downloading MP3s and listening to people spiel instead of reading interviews. Which is cool, because you can stuff it into yr iPod, etc.
Today’s interview is with Allison Wolfe. I feel like kind of a dummy, because even though the interview went way longer than we thought it would, I still didn’t even mention the record we (sort of) made together - I’d utterly forgotten that I’d recorded vocals for her for a Noisy Pig record, which came out on a really cool pink 7”. Kind of germane to a conversation about vinyl. Whoops.
Anyhoo - I’m hoping to get interviews with Byron Coley, Jack Brewer, Pat Noecker, Thurston Moore, Matthew Wascovich and a few other buddies lined up over the next few days. The fact that I just finally got my iPhone voice recorder app working about an hr ago will increase the chances of getting this all done immeasurably.
More tomorrow,
