Hey, I’ve been corresponding a bit with Watt this week and cleaning out the laptop and then hey, I found this, so why not post it: A cover I did of “This Ain’t No Picnic,” dating from 1998 or so. Maybe 20 people have heard this, ever.
Backstory: This whole thing was recorded with two other guys in literally 10 minutes (which I remember because we had 10 minutes of studio time left, and I dared the drummer and other guitar player to do it. Damned if we didn’t pull it off. I recall sprinting to get the copy of “Double Nickels…” out of the side door of my Jeep because I needed the liner notes to remember a single line of the song.)
I only noticed later that this version is actually shorter and faster than the original … Ah, yes. The combination of youth, caffeine abuse and near-constant nicotine intake will tend to affect one’s sense of tempo, I suppose.
I do rather enjoy that gtr solo, tho …
